人们经常会告诉雷吉娜·布瑞特(Regina Brett)她看起来比实际年龄要年轻,这位90岁高龄的多年前被查出患有乳腺癌,当年她就写下了45条人生格言,并且照着这些标准在生活着。这么多年过去了,这些格言不仅帮助了她自己,同时也帮助了其他人,积极面对他们的人生。

1.生活虽然很不公平,但是它依旧美好。

  Life isn’t fair,but it’s still good.

2.如果你疑虑重重,那就先迈出一小步试试。

 When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3.人生苦短,不要把时间浪费在憎恨上。

 Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4.别把自己太当回事,因为别人也不会把你当回事。

 Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

5.每个月都要还信用卡卡账。

 Pay off your credit cards every month.

6.你不需要据理力争,可以各执己见。

 You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7.与朋友倾诉好过自己暗自流泪。

 Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.

8.从你的第一笔工资开始,就要为你的退休存款。

 Save for retirement,starting with your first paycheck.

9.遇上想吃的东西就吃,抗拒是徒劳的。

 When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

10.接受你的过去,好让它不影响到你的未来。

 Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.

11.没关系,可以让孩子们看到你伤心难过的样子。

 It’s OK to let your children see you cry.

12.不要跟别人比生活,因为你不知道他们的生活究竟如何。

 Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

13.如果你需要别人隐瞒一段恋爱,那也许你就不应该谈这段恋爱。

 If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.

14.人生短暂,不要把时间浪费在自怜自哀上,要么忙碌的活着,要么忙碌的死去。

 Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.

15.如果你现在坚定不移,那么你就能度过一切。

 You can get through anything if you stay put in today.

16.作家写作,所以如果你想成为作家,就要练习写作。

 A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.

17.你可以拥有一个快乐的童年,但是如果你想再次领略童趣,那只能靠你自己。

 it’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

18.当关系到追求一生挚爱的时候,千万不要轻易放弃。

 When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.

19.吃好的,穿好的,用好的。不要等到特殊场合才拿出来,其实每一天都是特殊的。

 Burn the candles;use the nice sheets; wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

20.好好准备,然后随波逐流。

 Overprepare, then go with the flow.

21.想要古灵精怪就趁现在,不到等老了以后才想起来穿大红大绿的。

Be eccentric now, Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.

22.人类最性感的器官是大脑。

 The most important sex organ is the brain.

23.没人能控制你是否高兴,只有你自己可以。

 No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

24.每次面对所谓的“灾难”的时候,都问问自己:“五年之后,这还算事么?”

 Frame every so-called disaster with these words:“In five years, will this matter?”

 Forgive everyone everything.

 What other people think of you is none of your business.

 Growing old beats the alternative—dying young.

 Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.

 Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

 If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

36.不要做生活的旁听生,参与进来,尽力而为。

 Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

37.把所有没用的,不漂亮的,不快乐的东西都扔掉。

 Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.

38.最终最重要的是你爱过。

 All that truly matters in the end is that you loved

39.嫉妒是浪费时间,你已经拥有你所需要的了。

 Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

40.现在才刚开始,好戏还在后面呢。

 The best is yet to come.

 No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.
